Comedy: At last, a presidential debate!

When many thought the ceiling had been reached, these five took the elevator, raising standards for comedy skit makers.

Definitely not the other presidential debate of course 😅

Five of Anglophone Cameroon’s most renowned comedians are putting up a show in Buea on Sunday March 27, 2022.

Termed the ‘Virtous Women Presidential Debate’, it has as Frontline acts, Dorcas, Auntie Felicia and Caro, who has her man, Copees as campaign manager.

Who else is more apt to moderate such a debate, if not the biggest mentor of them all, Richard (Godisz Fungwa ).

One of the greatest challenge of skit makers is often to deliver before a live audience.

In many cases, their acts tend to be sluggish and punchlines lost to stage distractions, owing to the absence of unidirectional focus usually imposed in skits with the aid of camera angles and background sound.

This form of presentation (a debate) may be the solution. Characters’ gesticulations and movement would likely be more limited, given the live audience the chance to focus more on where their comedy lies – words and gestures.

The value of the acts involved cannot be undermined and in an ideal clime, the 10,000 FCFA price for regular tickets would be just a token to the audience. However, we are not in an ideal clime and no one can pretend to be blind to the current context.

That sum is a week’s wage for many who barely get by. It is moments like this that can stretch thin their love for art and entertainment.

Regardless of what the numbers say, history will be made. The content promises to be mouthwatering and mentally satisfying.

The show definitely promises to be a blast. Facken!!!
